French figural clock, 8 days, time and count wheel strike pendule a Paris movement by Marti, contained in a gilt drum carried on the back of a patinated bronze figure of an elephant standing on a gilt bronze base with rococo style ornament, the drum with gilt foliage and seated figure holding a cluster of grapes, white enamel Roman numeral dial with Arabic outer 5 minute markers, signed "Costantin a Paris Grie de la Madeline", gilt Louis XV style hands, bezel with thick beveled convex glass, c1865
CONDITION:
Case with gilding and patina restored, bezel glass good, rear glass missing, dial with a few tiny edge flakes, otherwise excellent, hands excellent, movement ticks and strikes, bell nut replaced, Ht 20 1/2"
